I am a life-long learner. Recently, I became a certified LifeDesigner Coach (in 2023) and hold a Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology (2022) and an MEd in Adult Education (2019).
Learning and sharing about human development and how the brain works, especially how change is possible for all of us, is what fires me up.
Prior to my coaching life, I ushered high school students through the college search and application process. Helping them find their voice and identify their preferences was my favorite part, and it inspired me to want to help adults in that in-between time of life do the same.
My Story
My 59th birthday was coming. I knew that I couldn’t carry this baggage into my 60s. I was overweight, I was drinking too much, and I didn’t feel like I had a lot to contribute or look forward to. I needed to make some changes as if my life depended on it!
With support, teaching, and guidance from a handful of coaches, I made the difficult decision to change. This meant getting rid of old habits and creating new ones. It meant being brave enough to learn new ways of thinking and reacting so that I could get excited again.
I quit drinking, I broke up with sugar. I transitioned away from my career as an independent education consultant. I took up meditating and journaling.
These days, I'm up before the sun, living a life I've intentionally created – not one defined by my past or what the world thinks someone in their 60s should be doing.
I also have the luxury of enjoying my two adult children, my little mini poodle, and life in the woods with my lifelong friend and husband of ten years.
My Guiding Principles
That I have agency and can make choices for myself.
That I experience a sense of meaning and purpose in my life.
That I continually learn new things.
That the way I behave is consistent with my values.
That I am grateful for what I have.
